Portrait and Figure Painting with a Limited Palette

This class is designed to help you create luminous portraits and figures using a clear, systematic 4-step process. Working with a primary palette of 7 colors, you’ll master color mixing, and deepen your understanding of hue, value, and chroma. Each week,Dominique does a step-by-step demo and narrates the process as she works. We work from a variety of portrait and figure references, including both clothed and nude poses. Each week students receive critiques, you’ll complete 2-4 paintings each month while refining your skills.

The class is open to all levels, though basic drawing skills are a plus. Anyone eager to learn and willing to put in the practice is welcome. With a focus on accurate color mixing and creating likeness, you'll develop your ability to paint what you see within a limited time frame, taking your skills to the next level.
